JAMMU: A day after the violation of ceasefire along Line of Control by Pakistan on Tuesday night, the security forces eliminated six Pakistani militants in two separate encounters in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region.
The troops killed two more terrorists belonging to a group of infiltrators five of whom were eliminated on Tuesday along the LOC in Mendhar sector of Poonch district.

All of them belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba. The two terrorists were killed in Sonari forests of Poonch district. Two AK rifles, four magazines and seven grenades were recovered from the site of the encounter.
In a separate encounter, Army jawans killed at least four Pakistani terrorists in Rajouri district. The troops sighted the movement of men in the forested area of Budhal in Rajouri and launched a search and cordon operation, which led to a fierce encounter between them and the terrorists. The four slain terrorists belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen.
Three AK rifles, ten magazines, two radio sets, 13 grenades, three IEDs and some documents were recovered from the site.
Meanwhile, Brig Dhruv Katoch of 16 Corps at Jammu told TOI that the ceasefire was "intact" along the LoC and IB notwithstanding Tuesday''s shelling from across the border. The brigadier, however, said it was not confirmed whether the mortars were fired by Pakistani forces or it was the handiwork of a group of terrorists.
When asked whether terrorists were equipped with mortar shells, he said "the shells were 82-mm mortar shells fired from Pakistani Army locations. The terrorists have no record of firing mortar shells on Indian positions because they don''t have 82-mm mortar shells. These mortar shells are always carried by Pakistani forces."
The Indian Army, he said, "did not retaliate and maintained the sanctity of the ceasefire. We have intensified the vigil along LoC. The matter is being investigated at the DGMO level and the motive of the mortar shelling from across would become known."
